St Kilda Residence

St Kilda Residence is a considered renovation within one of the remaining Victorian terraces of Queens Terrace at 368 Beaconsfield Parade. Originally constructed in the late 19th century as a row of five grand seaside residences, only two of the original buildings remain today — lending this address a rare architectural presence along St Kilda West’s waterfront.

Rich in history and classical proportion, the renovation sought to honour the integrity of the original structure while refining it for contemporary coastal living. High ceilings and the existing fireplace provided a strong architectural framework, carefully retained and subtly enhanced to preserve the building’s character.

A restrained palette of soft whites and warm neutrals allows natural light from the bay to move freely through the apartment. Dark oak flooring and bespoke charcoal timber joinery introduce depth and contrast, anchoring the interior within the heritage shell. Custom cabinetry was designed to feel integrated and architectural, balancing functionality with quiet elegance.

Floor-to-ceiling sheers soften the coastal light, while curated furnishings bring a tailored yet relaxed sensibility. Bathrooms were reimagined with full-height stone tiling and refined detailing, ensuring material consistency throughout.

The result is a sophisticated coastal residence that respectfully honours the legacy of Queens Terrace — where 19th-century character and contemporary refinement coexist seamlessly.
